Gratitude

I think having an extra little guy around the house to take care of has really shown us how important our own relationship is with each other.

When it was just us, it was easier to meet each other's needs.  Now we are both busy meeting our little Gavin's needs.  We love him!  But it simply means we have to work harder at our own relationship.

I'm thankful for you because you are very unselfish. You put others before yourself. You think of me - the "little things" like buying me my favorite coffee.  You already do a great job of loving me and showing me how much you care. Thank you!

Two years ago yesterday was our first date.  You are STILL the most amazing person I have ever met in my life. You continue to inspire me.  I love you! Here's to 75 more years!

It's not that we speak fluently yet, because as I said one of the first times we met, I can't teach Spanish! ha HA!

One Year

One year ago this coming weekend we had a wonderful day. Our wedding was so much fun!  We had so much joy as we left the church.  I still remember that moment when we walked out of the church onto the concrete steps and all the guests were below us waiting. We threw up our arms in joy!

This past year has been a whirlwind of emotions.  I wouldn't change a thing.  I love you so much and we are stronger for faces some of our challenges head-on.  Gavin is such an amazing son!  We just keep getting blessed.  I know that we can grow through the hardships and celebrate the good things we have.

I am so lucky that I got to interpret for you on December 14, 2012!

Thank you so much for giving me positive feedback and reinforcement.  You are so great at catching me when I am doing something right and giving me positive words of encouragement.  I need that so much!

There are so many times when I am not doing what is best for you or our family, but you are such a beautiful and positive person that you find times when I am doing something good and you make sure to let me know. Thank you, sonrisa!

Last night you wrote me a note and left it on my bedside.  You even bought me a new pair of gym shorts, simply on a Wednesday.  One passing comment during a conversation turns into you giving me a gift (you still have time to take care of a newborn and me!).  I love you!

Less than two weeks after praying this every night, we found out we would be having a baby!  I truly believe the last line, "I know I was born for such a time as this."  Our journey has become a little difficult, but we are embracing it fully.

Everything is happening with a grand design.  November 18 was eleven months exactly after our first date. I love you!

You are going to be an amazing mother.  You have a tremendous amount of patience.  I am slowly trying to learn your patience; yours amazes me!  You are loving and incredibly kind.  You are genuine.  I know that our son or daughter will feel comfortable coming to talk to you about their life.  I hope we can be a blessing in our child's life, whatever that may look like.

Kitchens & Babies

We've had an interesting 6 weeks with the kitchen remodel, but it looks great so far!  It has shaken up our normal routine (mostly cooking and eating routine...but hey we only eat 4-5 times a day, right?) but I am so happy to do everything in life with you at my side.

You are a truly beautiful person and I hope I expressed that to you that today.  I love how you give your time to help Sarah and everyone at City Light church on your days off.  It's a simple gesture but it shows how much you like to help other people.  I love that you are selfless!

I am ready to love and grow with the new addition to our family in two months.  I know you are scared but I will be with you every single day and every step of the way.  We have amazing help, and family and friends, and we will not just get through the scary delivery, we will come out better people.  We will have an amazing new life to grow with and to love.

My First Post

Hey Lover!
  Here is my first post on our blog! I just want you to know how wonderful this blog is and when you showed me it was one of the best days of my life! I can't believe we have been married for 6 months! So much has happened in these last 6 months. We have already been through some rough times and I love working through them and making our relationship stronger. I think you are the most amazing man I have ever met. You are always putting my needs first and I know you would do anything for me! I am so excited for all the adventures we are going to share in the next couple years. I am really excited to show you around NY and for you to show me and our baby around Costa Rica!

I am so appreciative of how calm and level headed you are. You are always there to calm me down when I get a little crazy! I am glad I get to have a baby with you because without you I would be CRAZY! Thank you for supporting me in all my craziness. I love you so much I can't even express to you! I will try the rest of my life to show you!

Thank you for your patience.  You have a kind heart and know how to be patient with me.  I have to admit that I like when you laugh but at the same time scold me for some of the shenanigans I say and do.

I love that we can simply be together and it doesn't matter what we are doing.  Sometimes we go out and do new things which is really fun, but I also love how we can stay in and just read a book.

Remember our trip to Grand Island for Alan & Lindsey's wedding?  We had only been dating for about two months (maybe less) but it seemed so natural to go with you and meet ALL your family. I really enjoyed seeing you being so selfless by preparing the rehearsal dinner for them.  You showed up early to help set everything up, after preparing food for 100 people, and during the dinner you were the last to eat.  You give and serve people with all you have.  Thank you for being so loving!

Family

Now that we have gone to the Doctor and confirmed we will be having a baby and told our families, I'm excited and looking forward to being parents.  You are going to be a wonderful mother.  I love you first as my wife and lover, and now we'll be adding another role: mom.
