December milestones

 On December 14, 2012 is when we first "connected" on Facebook. Although we had first met and talked in person, this was just another small step towards pursuit. Four days later, we met for our first date (tomorrow marks 13 years ago since that first date!).

 December is a big month for milestones for us. I am truly grateful to have you in my life. And even more grateful to have been lucky enough to be able to be your husband. I love you so much! Thank you for saying "yes" on that day 13 years ago. Our lives changed so much that day.

I love writing down our dates after we go out. I feel very lucky, very grateful, to be able to go out on dates with you. Honestly I am blessed to be able to be your husband. You make me feel loved and it's a great feeling being around you. You are honest, generous, faithful, and kind (to everyone). I love you!

Happy Fall 2025!

 Today is my 42nd birthday. Three days ago was our 12th wedding anniversary. I am so happy, and lucky, to be your husband. Thank you for loving me, taking today off work, and supporting me. You are so wonderful and I love you so much!

August 21 - morning breakfast date at SCBC (Saddle Creek Breakfast Club); then we went to the interior design open house at Modern Hive. Conversations we had: If you had a person chef, what's the first meal you would request? (T - tacos! N- steak, breakfast tacos) What's something recently that has made you feel especially grateful? (You said you are grateful for me);  If we could instantly teleport anywhere for the rest of the day, with no kids and no responsibilities or work etc, where would you want us to go and what would we do? (T - Greece, a Greek Island, go to beach and explore, eat local Greek food; N - Costa Rica or Belize)

July 9 - Brunch date at Saddle Creek Breakfast Club!

July 11 - Funny Bone to see Craig Robison (Daryl from The Office) - double date with Nick/Kelly Djernes

July 24-27 NDSC National Down Syndrome Congress in Dallas, TX. Third year in a row going!

--Thursday night - Dinner at "Las Palmas" Mexican restaurant. There was over an hour wait to sit inside so we sat outside in the 90 degree eat!

--Friday morning - 5:45am morning jog together around the Hilton Anatole hotel

June 7 - Timber Woodfire Grill dinner; Kohl's (towels) then Aksarben outdoor art show; Back to Countryside Village to The Casual Pint.

June 12 - Double date with Alan/Lindsey Singkofer: We ate dinner at "Charred" in LaVista then went to Werner Park for the Union Soccer game! (first time going to a Union Soccer game!)

May 2025

May 21 - Morning coffee date! We went to a new (to us) place - Stir Coffee bar near 168 and Center.

        1. Something you've learned about yourself in the past year tha tyou didn't realize before? -Answer: How much         of a germ-o-phobe I am!

        2. If you could instantly teleport to any place in the world for a 24 hour date, where would you go? Answer:             Greek Islands!

April 2025

April 5 - Double Date with Nick/Kelli Djernes. Dinner at Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen (downtown) then we walked to the Supernovas volleyball game. After, we walked to the Wicked Rabbit Speakeasy for drinks!

April 11 - John Crist comedian at the Orpheum. Dinner before at Mexitli

April 25 - Morning Breakfast date at Saddle Creek Breakfast Club (SCBC)

1. "If you could go back and reassure your younger self about one part of our journey together, what would you say?"
2. "What is something you’ve always admired in me but don’t say out loud very often?"

1. "If we had to switch lives with a fictional couple from a movie or TV show for a week, who would you pick and why?"

March 14 - Three's Happiness Chinese and then CityLight Equipping conversations "What is the Good Life?" (Julia watched boys)

March 16/March 17 - Grand Island- Sunday morning after church we went to the "Daily Dose" coffee shop downtown GI. Monday morning jog together in the dark (5:30a).

February 2025

February 5 - After dropping the boys off at school, we ran on the trail (by the school) for a couples miles together. After, we went to LeQuartier and had a coffee date.

February 8 - DSA Parents night out at SpareTime near Lakeside 168 and center. Bowling & Dinner with the DSA.

February 15 - Diana was supposed to be in town for an Orpheum show and watch the boys while we went out for Valentine's day. But it snowed, so she stayed in GI. We ended up going to the Makery with the boys and then they went to Alan/Lindsey's to play with Bria/Haven, while you and I went to a new cookie place (Dirty Dough) and took the cookies to Starbucks. We had a coffee date and then read the Bible together. 

February 26 - morning coffee date after droppping the kids off at school - Zen Coffee 132 Center. We planned our upcoming Spring break mini-trip to Kansas City (March 2025) and also talked about booking Mexico for February 2026 with Alan/Lindsey.

January 2025

January xx (detox diet through 1-9-25 made it hard to go out...) plus Disney coming up.

January 14 - Zen Coffee date. We talked about the upcoming Disney trip!

2024

December 2024

December 12 - out for your Children's work (Developmental Pediatrics Department) Christmas party at Fernando's - Ms Julia watched the boys!

December 13 - morning date to Millwork Commons in North Downtown - Sweet magnolias for some sweet treats and I got coffee from Archetype coffee! We had a good conversation - we talked about our favorite honeymoon memories on the island of Dominica, anything we wish we did more together, and how our current level of intimacy is going! After the date you said "Thanks for that. That really filled my cup." :-)

December 20 - we had a movie night in (at the house). We had just dropped the kids off to go to GI while we left for Chicago the next day! We ate dinner together and watched Netflix. I know one movie was Murder Mystery 2 with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. 

December 21-23: Chicago trip! We flew out at 5a, got to CHI by 6:15a, hopped on the orange line train to downtown, and then the red line to Ann Sather's breakfast restaurant! We even had the same waitress as previous trips. Breakfast in Chicago by 7:30! We stayed at the Hyatt Place River North. We got to check in super early at 9am. We had Levain's bakery, Mexican Food, Giordano's at Navy Pier, saw the bean and huge Christmas tree at Millenium Park; we did the German outdoor Christmas Village (Christkindlmarkt).

We may not have taken any official dates - just your surprise birthday! Or I forgot to write it down? Busy month with birthdays and thanksgiving...

October 2024

October 13 - boys in Grand Island so we went to breakfast at 7AM at Saddle Creek Breakfast Club before church, then went to church together. These two mornings together we also ran up from our house to the Westside track together for an early morning jog.

October 14 - we watched a movie together in our living room - "The Fall Guy"

October 25 - double date night - Out with the Waechter’s. Julia babysitter. We went out to Taxi’s restaurant, then to the speakeasy "Alice" and then for cookies at Crumbl.

September 5 - Morning breakfast date!

September 7 - out to Kinkaider brewery in Aksarben to watch the Husker vs Colorado game. 

September 28 - 11th Anniversary! Dinner at "Memoir" downtown, then a show at the Holland (Michael Grandinetti - symphony of illusions)

Additions?

 As we think about expanding our family, I am so excited and grateful for you. We go through a lot together, as husband & wife and as parents. I appreciate you and look forward to our days, weeks, months, and years together. Who knew we would be where we are now? I love you so much.

Thanks for helping us figure out our lives this summer. I appreciate you for always challenging the boys (and me) to continue learning, "failing," getting back up and trying again. I love growing with you. Thanks for being such a beautiful wife and amazing mother!

Unknowns, Life, 12 Years, Blessing.

I know when I started this blog, while we were dating, I didn't know exactly what to expect. That's what is so interesting about life - it's hard to know what to expect when so much of the future is unknown.

The only reason I even gathered the "courage" (I think there's a better word than courage to use here but I can't think of it!) to start this blog, before we had committed to each other, is because I could sense something different about you - and I mean to say 'Different' in the best possible way.

That was 12 years ago. And I can say today, 12 years later, that I am so grateful for you. 

The past 12 years brought many unexpected or unknown things. But being by your side, through thick and thin, has been such a blessing.

I am just "dropping in" to this blog to tell you how much you mean to me and how much I love you. Through thick and thin, we love each other and continue "looking up" (aiming up) towards God, both individually and as a couple. I love you sonrisa!

Detox / Support

Thank you for being so supportive. When I started reading about this 10 day "detox" idea, you were immediately supportive. I am so grateful that you not only jumped on board but also did the bulk of the research on meal ideas and grocery list planning. Thank you. I enjoyed that we had alone time together the week before in Chicago where we just spent some night at the hotel together planning it out!
